Giant Athletes / Giant Nation

The IHSA Board of Directors made the decision to cancel all spring sport state tournaments on Tuesday, April 21st. The Board also determined that summer contact days are suspended for this year, unless state government and medical leaders indicate such gatherings are safe. At that time, the Board indicated a willingness to reconsider how summer contact might be conducted and whether opportunities for schools to conduct some kind of spring athletic events might occur.

If it is determined safe to return, the IHSA will provide us a detailed outline on the plan for summer contact days and possibly some kind of spring athletic events. All of this is dependent upon state government and medical leaders giving the go ahead for such to happen.

With that information coming to us today, we are really thinking about our seniors right now!! I can’t even imagine not being able to put that uniform on for the last time on your terms. Senior night’s and last home games are always very bitter / sweet moments. Most athletes are sad that it is their last game but at least you have all your family, coaches, friends, teachers and administrators there to support you. I know we can’t give that to you this year, but I can guarantee you we are all thinking about you at this time!! We will still be able to honor you at the sports banquet whenever we can reschedule that, and yes, we will be having the Sports Banquet sometime when things get back to normal.

Returning athletes and incoming freshman please watch the web page for updates from your coaches, we will be putting information up about team sign up, personal workouts, playbooks and video study that you can be doing. The worst thing you can do right now is nothing, if you want to have success when we return to playing you need to keep working out and studying the game on your own. “Real success comes from the work you do when no one is watching”

If and when we are able to return to summer workouts and hold camps we will update that info for our middle school and elementary students at that time.

Stay positive and stay GIANT STRONG!!
