AHHS/MS Students: Get ready to be inspired! This Monday, we're thrilled to welcome a dynamic guest speaker to our school.

Reminder: Please be aware that next week is IAR Testing for Middle School on Monday, April 8th through Thursday, April 11th.
Encourage students to get a good night's sleep and eat breakfast. Attendance for all testing days is very important. Any questions, please contact the main office.

MCC Scholarship Reminder: Just a friendly reminder that today is the deadline to submit MCC Scholarships - both the general scholarship application and the High Impact Scholarship applications.
We encourage seniors to finalize their edits and submit their scholarship applications. Visit https://www.mchenry.edu/scholarships/ for more details.
Teacher recommendation uploads can continue after the deadline has passed, but it is encouraged that they are uploaded ASAP as the college will shortly begin reviewing all applications.

Hi there Friends of Hackmatack Volunteers!
This Sunday, April 7th from 9 a.m. to Noon the Friends of Hackmatack will host our next scheduled stewardship day. We will be working at a new site - the Otrebla site, currently owned by Openlands. The goal will be to remove brush and some small trees from a part of the site. Access to the property will be via a private landowner's property on the east side of Route 47, one mile north of St. Charles Road north of Woodstock. The address is 3314 Route 47, Woodstock IL 60098. Coordinates are
42.371179, -88.440046. As always, look for the Hackmatack signs!
Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and please bring your own drinking water. Protective clothing such as long pants (not leggings) are recommended. We’ll have hand tools, workgloves, safety glasses, and a few snacks.
An RSVP is appreciated, so if you know you will be attending please give me a heads up.
Students are welcome! Especially you, Alden-Hebron! If you are under age 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver form (located in the HS Office or in your email sent on 4/2) indicating that you are authorized to attend; you can either email the signed form back to me or bring it to the workday. Note that this is a different waiver form than our usual refuge form because we are working off of the refuge at this event. Also, the parent/guardian signs in the line labeled "volunteer"; the minor does not need to sign.
You can also check in with Pete Jackson at 224-612-1803 if you have a question.
We hope to see you Sunday as we work to restore beauty to the land and habitat for grassland birds and other wildlife!

AHHS Juniors: West Point’s Summer Leaders Experience (SLE)
At West Point, we develop Leaders of Character, and we are looking for high-achieving young people who are in great standing with their school and community, and who want to challenge themselves. Please see the attached flyer.
What is SLE?
-SLE is a one-week program for current Juniors (High School Class of 2025) to visit West Point in June.
-Students in this program get to spend the week with our cadets, live in the barracks, and eat in the mess hall.
-Learn about West Point’s world-class academics by trying 4 of our 17 academic workshops.
-Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more!
-Challenge themselves physically by attempting the Candidate Fitness Assessment, conducting physical training, and sports.
-Complete their admissions interview with a cadet.
-Spend the week making friends with other students from all over the US who are applying to West Point.
All the students that I have spoken with have really enjoyed this program and they especially enjoy interacting with the cadets. Students may sign up for this program now by using the QR code in the attached “2024 SLE FLYER” or directly at westpoint.edu. We will accept applications until April 15th. SLE is competitive and not all who apply are offered to attend.
