Volunteers Needed!
Hi There Alden-Hebron HS Students/Community Members/Friends of Hackmatack Volunteers!
This Sunday, February 11th from 9 a.m. to Noon the Friends of Hackmatack will host our next scheduled stewardship day. We will be working at the Tryon Grove site, located on the north side of Tryon Grove Road, 1.5 miles west of the intersection with Routes 12 and 31 in Richmond. A map to the site from the intersection of Routes 12 and 31 is shown here: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/42.4508626,-88.3058114/42.4451761,-88.3329365/@42.4474411,-88.3280166,14.98z?entry=ttu
The address is 7008 E Tryon Grove Rd, Richmond, IL 60071-9757, 42.447970, -88.332620. If you are familiar with our Tamarack West site, the Tryon Grove site is across the road and a bit further west (and on the north side of Tryon Grove Road). There is plenty of room for parking after you pull into the site; be careful when entering and exiting the site (oncoming traffic may be shielded from view).
We will be removing trees and brush from a fence line along the west edge of the site, along with the removal of the fence itself.
Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and please bring your own drinking water. Protective clothing such as long pants (not leggings) are recommended. We’ll have hand tools, workgloves, safety glasses, and a few snacks.
An RSVP is appreciated, so if you know you will be attending please give me a heads up. Alden-Hebron Students are welcome and are greatly appreciated! If you are under age 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign the attached waiver form indicating that you are authorized to attend; you can either email the signed form back to me or bring it to the workday. (You do not need to sign, just your parent/guardian.) Note that some parts of this form are left blank. The sections to be completed are 1-19 and 28-36. Mrs. VanderPal emailed the form to your school email on 2/6/24.
As always, if there is any question of weather, please check your email before you head out to the workday; no email means we are on. You can also check in with Pete Jackson at 224-612-1803 if you have a question.
We hope to see you Sunday as we work to restore beauty to the land and habitat for grassland birds and other wildlife!
