VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY this Sunday, January 8th, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Hello Again Friends of Hackmatack Volunteers,
Our next ecological stewardship day will be this Sunday, January 8th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Tamarack West site located on the south side of Tryon Grove Road 1.2 miles west of the intersection of Routes 12 and 31.
We again can use your help hauling cut wood to the brush piles, and if weather permits we may be burning some of the piles. We are hopeful that we will have a number of students from the Alden-Hebron High School. We invite everyone to come help build the refuge by cutting some brush or hauling a few branches to the pile. We need your help!
A map to the Tamarack West site from the intersection of Routes 12 and 31 is shown here: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/42.4508804,-88.3058755/42.4466615,-88.3285283/@42.4468109,-88.3251326,1556m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!4m1!3e0
For those who have not been out to the current work area, it is just south from the parking area. There is an old two-track roadway, you can follow that down to the noise! If you see a clipboard by my silver Prius be sure to sign in (or you can just give me your waiver form if you are under 18), and grab some gloves, safety glasses and tools as you walk past my silver Prius. I leave the gloves etc. on the ground behind my car. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and please bring your own drinking water. We’ll have hand tools, work gloves, safety glasses, and some snacks.
For those who may be attending who are under age 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign the form emailed to HS students indicating that you are authorized to attend; you can bring it to the workday. (You do not need to sign, just your parent/guardian.)
The current weather forecast is calling for mild temps in the 30s with no precip expected. You can also check in with Pete Jackson at 224-612-1803 if you have a question.
We hope to see you out at Tamarack West!

AHHS REMINDER: Final exams will begin next week on Tuesday, December 20th and will go through Thursday, December 22. 📝 Students will follow their personal final exam schedule for each of the three days. Good luck to all of our students taking their final exams! 👍
ALL Online Courses (Earth/Space, Mythology, English 3, Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science), PE, Art, Band, and Choir finals will be given early for scheduling purposes.
Final exam days are open-campus for all high school students. This includes students who have lost or never had open lunch privileges. Students only need to be present for periods in which they have a scheduled exam.
Students who would like to be in the building, but do not have a scheduled exam, must report to a study hall to study quietly until their next exam begins or at the end of the day.
Students must arrive on time for all final exams. Any student(s) who arrive late for an exam will be denied entrance to the exam and must make up the exam during a make-up session or earn a grade of zero (0%) for the final exam.
Students must remain in class for the entire assigned exam testing times. However, students who complete an exam during the makeup session may leave upon completion of the exam.

We are going to continue our work at Tamarack West, located on the south side of Tryon Grove Road 1.2 miles west of the intersection of Routes 12 and 31. We are already opening up a beautiful view of Glacial Park to the south, and though our volunteer groups have been small, we are making good progress. We are hopeful that we will have a number of students from the Alden-Hebron High School.
We invite everyone to come help build the refuge by cutting some brush or hauling a few branches to the pile. We need your help!

Community News...Please help spread the word that we are seeking donations for wreaths for the over 125,000 Veterans of Foreign Wars who are buried overseas.
What does it mean to sponsor a Veteran’s wreath? Sponsoring a wreath means you’ll honor an American hero at one of more than 25 special cemeteries around the world this year.
Your generous donations will help place a wreath on the marker of a fallen hero to ensure that the legacy of duty, service, and sacrifice of that veteran is never forgotten. Overall, it means you have an opportunity to join a grateful nation in saying “thank you” to our Veterans this holiday season.
Checks can be mailed to: AMERICAN LEGION POST 606, P. O. BOX #36, HEBRON, IL 60034
