D19: The District’s Operating & Maintenance Budget addresses only a portion of annual facility needs with funds from the tax levy and grants. We prioritize emergency needs first, then planned capital maintenance projects, to the degree budgets allow. Recent projects include the MS/HS door & transom replacement (now meets fire safety code) and a scheduled boiler replacement (spring 2023).

NOVEMBER 8, 2022 FACILITIES REFERENDUM INFORMATIONAL PRESENTATION, "Q and A" STATIONS, and SCHOOL TOURS

A-H High School Volunteers,
TOMORROW is our next volunteer day ---- Sunday, October 23rd from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sphar site west of Hebron.
--->The Sphar site is located on Hebron Road between Alden and Hebron. Access to the site is through an old farmyard (the buildings have been removed) located across from an apple orchard. The site is on the south side of Hebron Road (15805 Hebron Road, Harvard IL 60033) and the site is around 0.4 miles east of Knickerbocker Road (to be avoided if at all possible due to the potholes!) and 4 miles west of Hebron. There is a metal green sign by the road with the lot number, which is 15805. Here is a link to the location: https://goo.gl/maps/zqwCdLuPgwFWyy2d7
--->Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and please bring your own drinking water. We’ll have hand tools, work gloves, safety glasses, and perhaps some pre-packaged snacks. Please do not wear soft leggings as seeds will cling to them and can be difficult to remove. Jeans are much better, along with leather boots or other footwear you don't mind getting dirty.
--->An RSVP is appreciated, so if you know you will be attending please give me a heads up. For those who may be attending who are under age 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign the volunteer form (located in the AH High School office/emailed to students) indicating that you are authorized to attend; you can bring it to the workday. (You do not need to sign, just your parent/guardian.)
--->There is a bit of walking over somewhat bumpy terrain from the ample parking area to the work location. Trucks may be able to drive in on the dirt road that heads south from the road (road conditions may depend on how much precipitation we get before the workday).
--->As always, if there is any question of weather please check in with Pete Jackson at 224-612-1803 if you have a question.
We hope to see you out at one of these events!

*** Come out to Senior Night tonight for Football and Cheer and support your Giants as they try to get a win against Hiawatha. We will be recognizing the Middle School Football team before the game at approximately 6:45, kickoff is 7:00 and we will be doing the Senior Night presentation at halftime of the game. We will also be doing the Giant Ball Drop at the end of the 3rd quarter and I do believe there are some balls left to purchase!! So come out and support the Giants and maybe win some money!! ***

Friends of Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge: Thanks to these Alden-Hebron School District 19 High School students (+ 1) for their hard work at our last stewardship workday. Lots of brush hauling! Great job AH student volunteers!!!
We are looking forward to working with AH at our next event on Sunday, Oct. 23rd 9am -noon.

*** High School Volleyball travels to IMSA for a 5:30/6:30 volleyball game today.***

Did You Know? The Nov 8 facilities referendum is not about enrollment growth - AH19 student enrollments remain steady. The proposed $15.9M projects address current needs and large-scale projects not affordable through the regular Operations & Maintenance Budget. It is intended to improve our facilities for today’s students and create opportunities for future generations!
