*** High School Volleyball plays at Westminster Christian tonight at 5:00. Middle School Football has their first game tonight at Orangeville 5:30 start. Good luck to both teams!! *** One more change for tonight's Middle School Volleyball game. We will play the 8th grade first at 4:30 and then play the 6th & 7th grade scrimmage game. ***
*** Middle School Volleyball starts their season tonight at home vs. Hiawatha. The game was scheduled as a 7th & 8th however Hiawatha just informed me they had a few 7th graders that didn't come to school today so it will be 8th only. We are still going to start at 4:30 and we will split up our 6th & 7th grade team and have a scrimmage game prior to the 8th grade game. Please pass the word along of the change***
AHHS News: Mr. Behrens' Physics students competed in the Physics 500. They worked in small groups to complete a variety of “races” that required them to make accurate measurements and use the collected data to calculate their average velocity.
Students were only allowed to complete one “normal” race (running or walking), but as you can see they got very creative. We had students doing front handsprings, somersaults, and cartwheels as well as rolling, skipping, bear crawling, and doing “the Griddy” across the finish line. At the end of period, they had to approximate a mystery distance using only a stopwatch and the average velocity calculated.
This fun activity lead to some great conversations about accurate data collection, average versus instantaneous velocity, and error analysis. We are looking forward to many more labs and projects throughout the school year!

*** Middle School Volleyball practice starts Wednesday after school from 3:00-5:00 in the HS gym. 5th graders are welcome to play, please bring appropriate shoes and practice cloths to change into. 5th graders will be escorted over from the elementary building to the high school for practice by one of the coaches. ***
*** All Fall Sports Athletes you must have a current sports physical on file in the MS/HS office in order to practice and play. Please get those turned in if you have already gotten your new one for this year. If you are unsure of when yours runs out please ask your coach or call the MS/HS office. Also a reminder that all sports fees are to be paid prior to the beginning of each season. $85.00 for HS sports & $60.00 for MS sports. $125.00 for MS Football. If you need to set up a payment plan please contact Coach Lalor 3 days prior to the deadline. HS Volleyball Aug. 22nd, MS Volleyball Aug. 25th, HS Football & Cheer Aug. 26th & MS Football Aug. 30th. If you have any outstanding fees left from last year those also have to be paid before you can participate. If you have any questions please give me a call. ***
